Panel to focus on implementing metrics that inform good decision making and help achieve business goals
March 22, 2017 — Insurance and claims defense organizations routinely gather large amounts of data regarding litigated claims, including resulting cost and loss. Leveraging that data can bring signficiant efficiency benefits, help control costs and improve outcomes. Vincent Venturella, product manager for Insurance with Wolters Kluwer’s ELM Solutions, will speak about leveraging this data for improved claims defense operations at the CLM 2017 Annual Conference.
The session, Claims Defense Metrics Maturity — Five Key Disciplines for Creating Excellent Metrics, will take place on March 30 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn.
Venturella will be joined in the session by Anna Barrett, manager in the Legal Resource Control Unit at the Cincinnati Insurance Companies, as well as Craig Hartsuyker, regional head of Claims Litigation for California, Farmers Insurance Exchange. The discussion will cover:
- The importance of collecting and analyzing claims defense metrics using five key disciplines as the foundation of the program.
- How to collect business intelligence, the importance of data integrity, and why segmenting data appropriately is critical.
- The five main types of reports to create and the information uncovered by each report type.
“It’s common for claims defense organizations to generate metrics, but they are frequently used only for reporting results to management,” said Venturella. “But when information is captured carefully and analyzed in a strategic way, it can provide valuable insights that inform good decisions and drive improved results.”
Venturella is responsible for the development of ELM Solutions’ insurance market offerings for claims and staff counsel. He has been with the company for three years, with experience working in legal management consulting and technology solutions within the insurance market for ten years.
